Shottle Hall Sogginess

As the band looked out from their worldwide headquarters in Parwich, there was the growing feeling that the rain was not going to stop. It poured and poured and poured. The unglamorous side of band life – shifting the gear – was going to get decidedly less glamorous. Time was getting on and we had to get to the venue, so with gritted teeth and soggy clothing The A52s loaded up their equipment. A four car convoy set off through the puddles for Shottle Hall.

After a slight erroneous detour into a cowshed, the band pulled up into the “No Parking” area right in front of the hall. It was so rock ‘n’ roll – the rebellious rock band sticking it to the man! It was also near the front door so we could keep as dry as possible…

We headed for the function room where Linda and John were holding their anniversary party. We had plenty of space and a rather nifty chequered dance floor.

Anyone for chess?

Stan took on the role of Mixmeister General and ensured we were balanced up for a live recording of the event.

Lewis, Chris and Rob work hard at the setup...

The band played two sets, breaking the world speed record on the way for a rendition of ‘Unbearable’. The sets were interspersed with the usual beer break and deep discussion about the state of the band, the world and everything.

Organised chaos on the dancefloor.

A spot of dancing. A nice venue, a friendly crowd and some cake at the end of the evening. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday night.

Happy anniversary Linda and John. All the best from The A52s!
